Not Happy with Apple iPhone X Screen Replacement Program
I have an iPhone X which has reported screen display problems (see source link below). For my particular phone, the top half of my phone was non-responsive to touch, so it was essentially unusable. I learned from different forums that Apple has a program to fix this bug, “free of charge”, but only if the phone has no cracked screen.
I’ve had my phone for close to 2 years, and it had some minor cracking on the top-right of the phone, but not related to the phone’s non-responsiveness. I brought it into the Apple Store, and the associate told me upfront that I had to pay $279 to get the display fixed before they could fix the non-responsiveness issue.
My issue with this is that how does Apple know that my phone is not working as a result of a minor crack? It could be very well that my phone is not responsive because the display component failed on its own, not because of a crack in the screen. I was obviously not happy with his response.
I asked the associate if a customer comes in with a non-responsive phone, and a slight crack on the phone, do they have to pay $279 to get the phone responsiveness issue fixed, and he said yes. I am inferring this means that the user must keep the phone case in pristine condition for them to fix this issue.
Let me know if i’m at fault for thinking this way, but I feel as though it has soured my taste for this company. Your phone has known issues with non-responsiveness, and you are charging customers as a result of this if they have any crack in the display.
