Stripped screw

So im replacing the screen on my iphone 8 and while trying to switch the home button the screw RIGHT ON TOP of the home button is stripped. I tried the rubber band and super glue method which prob made it worse. This probably wont work, but could i just break the stuff out around it and take the whole assembly out as one unit? If not what do please.
