Can you dump cards to an external SSD on an iPad Pro? Specifically MXF files, or others that are very specific?
TLDR: If I transfer a folder from a card to an external SSD, will all the contents transfer even if they are niche video formats that may not be natively recognized?
About a year ago I bought an iMac, and since then my MacBook Pro has been collecting dust. The only times I use it since buying the iMac are when I need to transfer footage while on site. This seems like a massive waste of such a nice piece of tech, but the only thing holding me back from selling it for an iPad is that I can’t figure out if I could dump cards to external SSDs with it using an adapter. I understand that it shouldn’t be a problem with lower end codecs like MP4s, but for higher end codecs like MXFs I can’t figure out if these would transfer smoothly. Even if I just had to transfer the files that this footage is in, and not each video file specifically, would they all transfer?
I enjoy the iPad form factor much more than a laptop, so I know it’d get much more use for leisure than my laptop.
If you can, I’d be curious as to how reliable this workflow is, and if there’s anything highly excessive invlolved. I really appreciate any help!
