DO NOT BUY – SwitchEasy CoverBuddy 12.9” iPad Pro & Magic Keyboard
I just wanted to make a PSA to the community and warn them of a severe design flaw on the new SwitchEasy CoverBuddy for the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” and the Magic Keyboard. I pre-ordered my CoverBuddy and it just arrived today.
While the Magic Keyboard is open and in position to type, there is nothing wrong with the CoverBuddy. The issue comes when you try to close it. The design of the CoverBuddy does not allow the Magic Keyboard to be closed properly, as it makes the iPad too thick. But in addition to that, due to the extra thickness, the iPad’s magnets will NOT hold the iPad in place and it can easily fall out of the Magic Keyboard while being closed, potentially causing damage to the iPad from a drop.
SwitchEasy would only issue me a refund if I were to ship the case back to them, in China, which is not economical to do due to shipping rates. I would not recommend this product unless you exclusively use the Magic Keyboard in an open position. Even then, for the cost, the cheap plastic used leaves much to be desired.
Use extreme caution if you have this case already, and if you are considering buying it, I would highly recommend alternatives.
