Build Quality: Why does the iPad feel so much more tankier than the iPad Pro?
After test driving the regular iPad 2019 and the 11” iPad Pro, the pro feels like I have to baby it.
The Pro: If I were to drop it, the Pro feels like it would smash, or the edges might be soft enough that they would dent or chip. It feels like a well built slab of glass, but dropping it unprotected would be catastrophic to the glass screen, or denting what seems like soft aluminum. It also has the tiniest bit of flex if you apply pressure. I get paranoid putting it in a backpack; what if something pushes against it and flexes/cracks the screen? What if I put my backpack down too hard and it dents/chips the ipad pro? Also the camera bump does not allow me to lay it flat on backside
Regular iPad: Feels sturdy. Hard to bend in your hands. Could probably survive a drop unprotected. The whole thing feels like one solid tablet and piece of metal, whereas the pro feels like a slab of glass. Doesn’t feel like babying is needed, throwing it into a bag is a non issue. No camera bump, feels great laying it on either slide without as much care.
