Will unlocking an iPhone from a jailbreaker damage it?
Hello! I am from the US, but I will be studying in Italy for the rest of the academic year. I have an iPhone 11, which I bought a SIM card for here in Italy, but it says “SIM is not Supported”. I have done everything- went to the Apple store twice, my SIM card’s place twice, my family back home went to MetroPCS where my carrier is 4 times, and I have reset and restored the phone multiple times. MetroPCS says they have unlocked my phone, but on the About Page, it still says Carrier Locked: SIM Locked. Apple and my SIM’s card place say my phone is locked by my carrier, but my carrier says it’s unlocked.
I have been using a second phone, a very cheap one- with a battery that runs out very fast, to load my SIM card and then I send hotspot signal to my iPhone. Should I continue to do this? Or should I have someone unlock it- people who do it on the side and jailbreak phones? Will this cause any potential damage to my iPhone?
I plan to be home to visit in 4-5 months, maybe I could just use the two phones since then, but it does eat up alot of data to hotspot all day.
Any advice is welcomed! Thank you
